For Norman Bel Geddes, a very influential American industrial designer, innovation simply illustrated courage: "At times, the only thing to do is to cut loose and do the unexpected!". In 1932, he published a book that was to become a reference for generations of creative minds. Amusingly, his book is entitled... "Horizons".

The glittering starry sky in the background is made in Goldfluss, a synthetic glass whose original manufacturing process was invented in seventeenth-century Venice by the Miotti family. Goldfluss is a substitute for the natural Aventurine stone whose name was given by the glass-blowers in Murano, fascinated by the glittery inclusions scattered "a l'avventura".
